Shanny returns to Devils with 1-year deal
Brendan Shanahan played half a season last year with the Devils and was disappointed when they were eliminated in a shocking Game 7 loss in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. So Wednesday, the 40-year-old signed up for a full year.

The first shot Travis Zajac took in warmups Sunday night clanked hard off the post of a wide-open net. The Devils' young center admitted he had begun to grip his stick a little tighter as of late. Zajac may be able to loosen his grip now.
